London to Amsterdam - Day 5 - Maldon to Tollesbury

This is the fifth day of my longest hiking adventure yet. I am hiking from London to Amsterdam.

The hike in England was completed over five weekends in July and August, then during my annual leave in late August I caught a ferry to The Netherlands and hiked the rest of the journey to Amsterdam.

I hiked 14 miles from Maldon to Tollesbury on day 5. I followed the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation for a few miles to the eastern terminus at Heybridge Basin. I passed lots of boats along the canal. Heybridge Basin was very picturesque by the sea lock and marina.

I then hiked along the England Coast Path around the Blackwater Estuary. It was very pleasant walking along the England Coast Path. It was another great day for hiking. The sun was shining all day.

There were not many places on route for food so I stocked up at a lidl in Maldon before I left. I came close to a village called Goldhanger. However, I did not go there. Instead I waited by a bench for my father to join me. My dad was supporting me on my adventure on day 5 and 6.

I came across a few sheep which were walking a head of me for a while. It kind of looked like I was herding them along the coast. Although that wasn't the plan!

I arrived at Tollesbury. I walked past a house on the edge of the village that had two emus in their garden! It was like being in Australia again.

We had a meal at Tollesbury cafe. I stayed the night at a campsite in Tollesbury and I got to test my new lightweight one man tent for the first time a “Hubba NX Tent 1” by MSR.
