Hurley and Cookham Dean circular hike!

Rating: 3.3 / 5

Distance: 14.5 miles

Starting at the free car park in Hurley village I made my way south - hiking up a steep hill which had a great view over the Thames Valley. I got to see some cute lambs a little bit further on.

The next point of interest was Dew Drop Inn. The route then went via Burchets Green, Maidenhead Thicket, Pinkneys Green, Bisham Wood, Cookham Dean & Hurley.

I had brilliant weather this day and I followed the Chiltern Way (Berkshire loop) for a big proportion of this hike.

The highlights of the trip were seeing all the picturesque cottages in Cookham Dean and also the fantastic view from Bisham Woods of Marlow (the woods are on top of a hill and view from the woods most the way are obscured by the trees. However there are two viewpoints with cracking views of the Marlow and the Chilterns).

I cut across the A404 when I hiked this. However I have altered the route so it is safer. The new route after Bisham woods goes along Quarry Wood Road's footpath. This altered route also passes by Bisham's 13th century church which is worth checking out. I would have suggested to follow the Thames Path via Marlow instead of going via Hurley (this is a nicer route). However unfortunatley hiking along the Thames Path is no longer possible due to Temple Bridge being damaged

The big downside of the route which caused the reasonably low rating was there were a lot of road walking on this one. Still I enjoyed the hike and nice to see more of the Chilterns that I have not seen before
