Chorleywood to Berkhamsted
Rating: 3.5 / 5
Distance: 15 miles
Chorleywood to Berkhamsted was a hike I completed in the Chilterns National Landscape in 2022. I live in Chorleywood and thought this would be a different and interesting route to Berkhamsted. What made me want to hike to Berkhamsted in the first place was I heard that there was going to be a medieval festival by the castle. However I won’t pretend it was my favourite hike I ever completed, but still enjoyable!
Chorleywood is on the metropolitan line of the London Underground and Berkhamsted has a station on a railway line that connects to London.
The route went via: the villages of Sarratt, Chipperfield, Bovingdon & Bourne End. I got to see the River Chess & the Grand Union Canal on this adventure. As well as Chipperfield common and Berkhamsted Castle & the medieval festival.
For a part of the journey I followed the Chiltern Way. I also joined the Hertfordshire Way for another section. These are both long distance walking paths in the Chilterns.
