Chorleywood to Beaconsfield - via Chiltern Open Air Museum, South Bucks Way & Bekonscot Model Village!

Rating: 4.0 / 5

Distance: 14 miles

Starting at Chorleywood (where I live), I made my way through Phillips Hill Woods to Chiltern Open Air Museum. After I followed the Chiltern Way to the River Misbourne. Once reaching the chalk stream I joined the South Bucks Way through Chalfont St Giles to Old Amersham.

Due to flooding of the River Misbourne, I decided to go up a hill which had great views of the River Misbourne Valley before rejoining the South Bucks Way closer to Old Amersham.

After getting a few photos in Old Amersham, I joined the Chiltern Heritage Trail that took me to the village of Coleshill. There is a good pond and windmill in the village. I then made my way down to Great Beard's Wood via public footpaths. I visited Bekonscot Model Village & Railway in Beaconsfield which I visited four years ago on my Amersham to Beaconsfield Hike (also on my website. I hiked a different way that day).

It was great to see two popular outdoor attractions in the Chilterns in one day!

I have edited the route so it starts at Chorleywood Railway Station and ends at Beaconsfield station in case anyone is hoping to do this route via public transport. There use to be Carousel bus that went from Chorleywood to Beaconsfield however that is no longer running. This would be a good hike for Londoners due to both train lines going to Marylebone. Google says it takes 1h 18 minutes to get from Beaconsfield station back to Chorleywood station (going via Marylebone).

Also for everyone's information the Chiltern Open Air Museum is only open certain days (Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays & Mondays), and you can old enter after 10am. Last entry to the model village is 4pm (open everyday).

The route, photos and a short video of the route are below!

Thank you.
