Broadstairs to Sandwich Hike - England Coast Path

Rating: 4.4 / 5

Distance: 12 miles

This was a really good hike. We parked at Broadstairs Railway Station car park (there weren't so many spaces there but there are several car parks in Broadstairs).

I would have rated the route higher had there not of been a long road stretch at the end of the route. My route originally planned to hike down the River Stour. However, the bridge (south of Ebbsfleet) was closed which meant an even longer walk along the Sandwich Bypass footpath. Nevertheless I really enjoyed the hike!

It's also a linear hike (my favourite type of hike!). You can get the train back from Sandwich at the end of the hike to Ramsgate, and then either another train from Ramsgate to Broadstairs, or you can do what we did and catch the "Ramsgate Loop" bus.

The highlights of the trip for me were seeing Broadstairs beach, Ramsgate Harbour, The Viking Ship at Cliffsend, Pegswell Bay, the horses at Stoneless Nature Reserve. Also Sandwich was a very picturesque town.

I would really recommend this hike (providing you don't mind walking alongside the Sandwich Bypass) towards the end.
