Blackfriars to Greenwich hike!
Rating: 3.8 / 5
Distance: 11 miles
A great hike in London!
The route started at Blackfriars Railway Station. I then hiked past the famous London sights of St. Paul's Cathedral, Bank, Leadenhall Market, Monument to the Great Fire of London. I climbed The Monument (costs £7) and I got a great view of the City of London and the River Thames from the top. There are 311 steps to the top!
I walked to the River Thames next and I hiked past the Shard, HMS Belfast, Tower of London & Tower Bridge. I followed the Thames Path via Rotherhithe, and checked out Surrey Docks Farm. The farm is well worth visiting in my opinion - especially as it's free and right next to the Thames! (donations are welcome though).
I hiked into Greenwich, walked around the University of Greenwich (there's amazing architecture here!). The last point of interest was the Royal Observatory which is just up a hill in Greenwich Park. There is a fantastic view of Canary Wharf from the obseervatory (see last photograph).
All in all a great hike in London that I'd recommend :)
