Wendover to West Wycombe
Rating: 4.8 / 5
Distance: 14 miles
This was probably my favourite day hike that I’ve completed. The great weather I had that day probably also influenced that.
There were several points of interest along this route (such as the South African War Monument on top of Coombe Hill (& the hill itself is great – there is a brilliant view at the top), Little Hampden’s 12th century church, Hampden House, Lacey Green windmill, Bradenham village, Dashwood Mausoleum at Wycombe Hill).
The long distance walking paths I followed on this route, included the Ridgeway bridleway path, then the South Bucks Way (which was marked as the Ridgeway). I also followed many footpaths and bridleways that weren’t on major routes.
I would recommend this hike. Wendover is on the Chiltern Railways line of the London Underground and West Wycombe has a bus service which connects to High Wycombe (which is on another Chiltern Railways line). Making this a route that can be done with public transport.
