Aylesbury to Thame - Thame Valley Walk

Rating: 4.1 / 5

Distance: 13 miles

A brilliant countryside hike in the Aylesbury Vale that follows the Thame Valley Walk (a waymarked trail).

PLEASE note - a part of the Thame Valley Walk is closed due to HS2 construction works near Aylesbury. Therefore to get around this closure I followed a footpath next to the Oxford Road briefly, before joining the North Bucks Way at Hartwell House, and then joining the Thame Valley Walk a bit further on.

There is a bus service that connects Thame back to Aylesbury. The town of Aylesbury is on two different chiltern railway lines that connect to London, making this a hike that is possible to do by public transport.

There were lots of sheep on this hike! Highlights included seeing all the lambs, animal farms, Hartwell House's church at the start, the River Thame, Lower Winchendon, Chearsley. I did this hike in May and I had perfect weather for it would recommend going around this time.

To me this hike really felt like I was out in the countryside.
