Chorleywood to Marlow!
Rating: 4.3 / 5
Distance: 20 miles
This was a great adventure in the Chilterns! I hiked from Chorleywood to Marlow (a picturesque Bucks town by the River Thames).
The route went via Phillips Hill woods, Chalfont St Giles, Hodgemoor woods, Beaconsfield (Knotty Green), Forty Green, Loudwater, Spade Oak Nature Reserve, Bourne End then following the Thames onto Marlow. I also carried on a little bit further along the River Thames to see Bisham's 12th Century church.
It was a great feeling to reach the River Thames, and hiking the last bit along the River Thames from Bourne End to Marlow was my favourite part. Saw some great countryside on this hike too.
Chorleywood is on the Metropolitan Line of the London Underground, and Marlow has a railway station that connects to Maidenhead, which connects to London. Making this a route that can be done via public transport for those in London / surrounding area.
Have updated the route - as on the route that I followed there was a dangerous roundabout crossing on the busy A40 at Loudwater. To avoid this the route now goes along the A40 footpath into Loudwater and then to Birfield road.
