Berkhamsted to Wendover - Grand Union Canal & Chilterns Hike

Rating: 4.2 / 5

Distance: 15 miles

Initially I followed the Grand Union Canal from Berkhamsted to Cow Roast. This was a great section of the canal that I hadn’t been on for a while. I then joined the Chiltern Way and made my way to the picturesque Tring Park via the village of Wigginton. After I joined The Ridgeway pilgrimage route, which went via Wendover Woods. I then went through the town of Wendover and hiked up through Bacombe Hill Nature Reserve to Coombe Hill.

I met my father at the top of the hill and so was able to grab a lift home. However, Wendover has a Chiltern Railways line that connects to London and Coombe Hill is not far from Wendover. Berkhamsted also has a railway station making this a hike that's possible by public transport.

A few months before completing this hike I had hiked from Chorleywood to Berkhamsted - so this was effectively a continuation of this hike.
